About Me
- Vickie Valdez Green
- Orange, California, United States
- I am a fiber artist. I design fiber jewelry, wall art, 3-dimensional art and quilts. I love to add texture to my art with found objects. I try not to limit myself by any preconceived ideas of what constitutes art. In my other life I am a veterinarian specializing in cats. I live in a 1928 Spanish Style house in Orange, California with my husband, Bob and our three feline children. I also have a studio in Old Towne Orange called Lady GREENsleeves Designs where I create and teach. .*´¨) ¸.• ´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•' CLICK ON ANY PHOTO ON THIS BLOG TO ENLARGE THE IMAGE

Foster Kittens
I am currently fostering a mother cat. She had kittens on 3-7-10, so they are about 2 1/2 weeks old now and I thought you might like to see some pictures. The names are just temporary to differentiate them until they find new homes. Aren't they adorable? Their Mom's name is Juliet and she already has a home. I tried something new for this show. I got the idea when I did the pieces for the Zinnia Show. Those pieces were on wooden blocks. These pieces (3 of six in the show) are actually wrapped around picture frames, so they have easel backs. That way the art can either hang on a wall or sit on the edge of a shelf. The above pieces left to right are entitled: "Baile de Los Muertos" (Dance of the Dead), "A Garden Sprite", and "The Goddess Metallica". They are not quilts. They are a combination of Fiber Art and Assemblage.
My quilt "Undersea Garden, shown below, is also hanging at the gallery.
Please come see the show. There is so much wonderful work from all the talented artists in Quilts on The Wall, Fiber Artists.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CLIMATE ACTION
On October 24th over 5200 events in 181 countries were held in the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet's history. For their part Zinnia Gallery in South Pasadena, CA held an event featuring 350 pieces of art by various artists with a large part of the proceeds going to "350", the organization heading the worldwide event. For more information on "350" click on the title of this post.
For our parts, my friends, Terry Waldron and Jan Chomyn, and I entered artwork for this sale. Of course Terry's adorable needle felted critters sold right away as did Jan's "Bogie" and my Day of the Dead piece. Our other pieces are still hanging in the gallery along with many other fine artists' work. Be sure and go by to see them if you get a chance.

To the right is the 12-in Square I entered in the SAQA auction, entitled, "The Regatta". It was purchased by a really talented artist, Leonie Hartley-Hoover from Canada. How fun! Now I can say my quilts have sold internationally. Thanks Leonie. Visit Leonie's blog by clicking on the title of this post. Her beading is amazing.
